Scooters have been the subject of  many toys and models over the years. The toys have been made of a variety of materials. Tinplate, plastic and diecast metal being the most popular.

The main problem faced by the makers is how to make a two wheeled vehicle stay upright particularly if children are to play with it.

Three main solutions were found.

1) Make the scooter three wheeled, usually by adding two small track rear wheels.
2) Or add a side car
3) Add a stand
